La Befana, the central figure of this night between January 5th and 6th, is nothing more than an old witch who, flying on her broom, brings sweets and candy to children. What the legend leaves out, though, is that Befana is our Lady Masciara! And we witches fly behind her, through the air with our souls, feasting from house to house and giving spiritual gifts to those who deserve them.
